The N Watch project is tracking crop nitrogen status across four barley demonstration sites in the lower Great Southern High Rainfall Zone, giving growers timely, real-world insights throughout the season. By combining fortnightly plant tissue testing and soil nitrogen analysis we’re building a picture of how crops are responding under different nitrogen strategies during the 2026 fertiliser supply and price challenges.

The interactive dashboard below brings all this information together in one place. Using a simple traffic light system, it highlights crop nitrogen status and helps growers make more informed, timely in-season nitrogen decisions based on crop growth stage, seasonal conditions and fertiliser already applied.
