AI and Microscopy for Worm Control
AI and Microscopy for Worm Control is a producer-led project focused on improving sheep worm management through the on-farm use of digital microscopy and artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Sheep gastrointestinal worm resistance is a growing threat to productivity, animal welfare and profitability across Southern WA. Resistance now affects most commonly used drench groups, and many producers continue to rely on routine drenching with limited testing before or after treatment. This increases costs, labour demands and the risk of ineffective worm control.
This project responds by demonstrating practical, time-efficient tools that give producers immediate, accurate data to support better worm control decisions at critical times.
