Delivered by SCF, with funding support from the Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry’s Future Drought Fund, this project builds the capability for landholders to implement and maintain these digital technologies, allowing them to make adaptive, proactive farm management decisions rather than the current reactive decisions. This enables farmers to manage their operations more effectively from season to season and, most importantly, reduce impacts during and after droughts, allowing them to increase productivity and sustain system resilience.
Throughout both 2024 and 2025, SCF has developed a wide range of training resources, informational materials and delivered training workshops across many regional Western Australia locations. This includes what to look for when purchasing a weather station, how to best maintain it, and ultimately, how to effectively utilise its data for decision-making purposes throughout the season. In an effort to continue encouraging farmers to visit their stations at least once a year, the group has also developed the #WebWednesday Initiative.
